Pushing Back

Claire's rented the hotel room for the week. It's in Los Angeles, far away from where Umbrella last saw her, and far away from where she'd evaded the Tyrant. Hopefully, it'd take them a while to hunt her back down.

Before the others get there, she spends an hour rearranging furniture--no fun with her right hand in a cast--and hanging things up. Photographs go on the mirror, files get posted on the walls, and bioweapon data gets arranged by type, with typewritten notes underneath.

When the first hired mercenary gets there, the hotel room looks like it's been repapered. There are several sandwiches and drinks for those who want them, and Claire's sitting somewhat nervously on the bed with a shotgun by her side.

EDIT: Who's Going Where
Chicago: Tom, Ash, Robo-Ky, Noodle
Paris: Leon, Goldenwing, Todd
Singapore: Ether, Tex
Kenya: Samus, Tak, Verdugos

The Gang of Four are mobile; since Shifter can teleport, she's on evac, and Stormer can help if anyone gets into trouble. Strife's the tactical nuclear option.

Ash steps out of the taxi. He's wearing a dark brown trench coat to hide the chainsaw and he has a big bag hanging off his left arm. He makes his way to the elevator and accidentally smushes the 3rd floor button in the elevator with his metal hand...hopefully no one notices it.

After reaching the floor, he makes his way down to the room Claire wrote down on a piece of paper in the Nexus. He reaches the room and knocks twice. He waits a few moments, and then hears...

"Who is it"

"Ash"

Claire opens the door and lets him in. He walks in and sees an open spot of to the side and puts down his bag. He then takes off his trenchcoat and puts it in the closet. Ash walks over to a table with food on it and grabs a few sandwiches as he hasn't eaten anything, but peanuts on the airplane since he got to Los Angeles.

"How's it going sugar?"

((Am I going about this right? lol Never done this type of RPing before))

To be honest...

...It had been a while since Goldenwing had come to a world where reploids or other such androids weren't that commonplace. Or at least a world where he couldn't make up some fancy excuse for the armor and general apperence.

Nonetheless, he avoids the general contact with the populace the best way he knows how. Running, more correctly, near flying as a red and gold armored blur across rooftops until he reaches the desired address. At which point, he timestopper teleports his way through the building to avoid being noticed. As the timestopper's active, GW's armor is bright blue with white as a secondary.

To put it bluntly, the Relic Class Android basically suddenly appears in Claire's room when the door's opened by someone else. He appears with a show of little nifty blue sparkles. Anyone who's played a Megaman Game, specifically MM2 would recognize them as Flashman's. Espically given the closer examination of GW's current armor.

Though he doesn't give much of a time for a look as it sweeps back to the good ol' classic red and gold. He speaks after removing the helmet and sticking it to his belt, "Alrighty~"

Information provided by Claire is more than enough to provide a PINpoint with coordinates... And soon, the air on the hotel's rooftop distorts slightly and Ether appears, dressed in his usual armor. He takes only several seconds to observe the area - and then simply hops off the edge of the roof, scaling the wall in the search of the correct window.

It takes him only around ten minutes to find his destination. Soon, the window to the hotel room opens carefully and Ether slips in with ease, his manner very casual for someone who made such an entrance.

"Ether here." He comments calmly, closing the window behind him and then turning toward the rest of the room. "Sorry for not using the door. When do we start?"

*They didn't care if ClaireRedfield did or didn't give them the final say whether or not they were allowed to come and help with this mission. The Hands were determined to destroy Umbrella and once they set their sights on something, it was pursued relentlessly until either it or they were destroyed.

Obviously, the track record for "Hands vs. Past Targets" was in their favor thus far. They were efficient, you had to give them that.

They clung to the shadows and used their inhuman speed to make their way to the hotel, growling in disgust to themselves over the fact they were currently sneaking through a filth-encrusted, American city crawling with humans. It was best not to think of it now, though. They had a target.

Hopefully, Master would forgive them for foregoing their search for him to undertake this mission. It was for the overall good of Los Illuminados, after all; this Umbrellacorporation was a threat that had to be removed, they were sure of it now. As soon as it was completed, they would return to the Nexus to look for their Master. Well, maybe not right after...There were many tempting detours that were sure to come up once the mission was completed...

ClaireRedfield was easy enough to track. Even amongst the stink of humans all around them, they could easily zero in on her scent and unique body signatures. She was a hunter amongst thralls of sheep; she gave off a distinct aura of a survivor, one who would not die easily.

If given the chance, she would make a lovely target to hunt down...

Their tracking eventually led them to the back of the hotel. They certainly couldn't just waltz into the building; humans often got upset when they were spotted. And that was always fun. But no. Mission first.

Remaining in the back of the building, the pair of robed creatures took to running up the side of the wall, their immense speed allowing them to dash along it as though it were level ground. Once they reached the roof, they strode to an indistinct spot that did not have any traces of living creatures directly beneath.

Without any sign of outward warning or agreement between the two, the Right Hand swung his scorpion-esque tail in a deadly arc and smashed it into the roof. It crumbled inward to create a hole big enough to allow them entry. They dropped into the empty hotel room below and carefully made their way out into the hallway, zeroing in once again on ClaireRedfield.

They soon stood outside the room she was waiting in. Without any knock or other indicator of their entry, The Hands pushed open the door and strode in, single-file and bent over due to their massive height. As the Right Hand shuts the door behind them, the Left removes his Speaking Stone from his black robes and begins to scratch out written words on it surface, causing the enchanted rock to verbalize for him.*

We are here to Fight and Kill Umbrellacorporation.

As the others are making their entrances, a certain lone figure is just approaching the hotel. A quick glance up and down the building is given before he enters, making his way to the front desk.

It'd been too long since he'd been in this kind of civilization, but he'd taken the precautions necessary, keeping a large trenchcoat on for most of the time to hide Fireseal. Even with that, though, people seemed just a little nervous.

Sol wasn't exactly human, after all. And he wasn't for a long time.

A few short words, and the receptionist dials Claire's room.

"There's a 'Sol Badguy' here to visit..."

Leon was a little delayed arriving to the gathering, mainly because he had to make a few arrangements. When he entered, all he had with him was an attachè case, nothing more.

He was more than a little surprised to see the Hands there, and gave them a rather dubious look before setting the case down and opening it. Inside the case were a few of his own customized weapons, nothing heavy, a comm device that was deactivated, a few healing items, and an envelope.

He emptied the envelope, taking out a few stacks of paper, and a couple of DVD discs, handing them out for Claire. "Here's everything I could get my hands on regarding Umbrella's facilities in Paris, Chicago, and Singapore.

"Known staff, shift rotations, a few maps, the basic layout of their security, known security codes, surveillance videos, even a few preliminary strike plans. There's a little bit of info on what things they might be brewing up in their labs, but it's sketchy at best, so expect more than a few surprises."

"In all honesty, I tend to do better by the seat of my pants anyway." Goldenwing leans on the dresser, crossing his arms. "I'm a /master/ at the fine art of bullshitting plans to survive." *R. Todd doesn't know if he's been invited or not, and he doesn't much care one way or the other. Ever since his activation, he's been sitting around with nothing to do, and at least he's giving himself the chance to stretch his legs a bit right now.

*The First Aspect, Todd, once received a PINpoint device from . . . who made these again? Either way, once that PINpoint became superfluous, the device was installed in R. Todd's core.

*Thus, a few minutes after Ether, R. Todd also appears on the hotel roof. His method of approach is somewhat more conventional than the other androids - he walks down the stairs from the roof and opens the hotel door at normal speed.

*His clothes are simple - a green t-shirt and jeans. Faint lines spiderweb their way down his arms and up his neck, reaching critical mass on his left forearm and right hand.*

Am I too late to join the fun?

*Samus and Tak were not the first to join the party, by any stretch of the imagination, although they were among the first to arrive at the hotel itself after being told the meeting's location. With the warnings they had been given about Umbrella so far, and the precautions Claire had taken to avoid detection, they were treating her world as hostile territory. After some research and a little preparation, a blond woman and a black-haired adolescent strode into the hotel lobby, pulling matching rolling luggage, garbed in the sunglasses and bright colors of the garden-variety tourist.*

*They made a lovely scene with the concierge, the woman arguing passionately and at some length that she was not at the wrong hotel, that the hotel had in fact lost her reservations--reservations which had not been cheap. The teen, meanwhile, shared sympathetic looks with the staff and exuded the typical teenage aura of shame-at-the-"old"-person. It didn't take much of such drama for the concierge to promise them accomodations just as quickly as they could be arranged, inviting them to enjoy the hotel's facilities in the meantime.*

*Enjoy they did; they lounged
briefly by the pool, hastening away like so many others when a gaggle of splash-happy worm-babies descended, taking themselves to the hotel's dining room for a light brunch before whiling away nearly an hour in the hotel bar, sitting at a cocktail table, their luggage close at hand the whole time.*

*Contrary to what the others might believe if they knew of this charade, they aren't wasting time. Then again, there is a reason they haven't told anyone how they would be arriving.*

Speak of the devil, Noodle wanders in dressed in a modified kimono style dress, long black slacks beneath to protect her legs somewhat. Protecting her hands and forarms are padded gloves. Strapped to her back is her guitar case but the thing contains no guitar today. Like something straight out of a mafia movie, she's hollowed this case out to have carrying room for her katana. Also inside the case, well hidden, is a tricked out first aide kit, just in case. Her hair is pulled back out of her face for once with a pair of chopstick looking items.

She smiles briefly, taking her case off her back and holding it to one side as she bows to the room before finding her way to RKY, just standing beside him, guitar case held protectively at her side.

"Well looks like we got a little shindig happening now."

Ash walks over to his bag and pulls out some gun straps that he begins to strap on. First goes the shotgun holder thats much like a back holster for a sword. Also attached to that is a gun holster that fits underneath his right arm. He takes out his shotgun, gives it a spin that manuevers smoothly into the sheath on his back. Then he reaches into the bag and pulls out a brand new flat black Desert Eagle and admires it.

"Oh baby thats the stuff right there"

He slides the Desert Eagle into the holster and puts on a belt thats loaded with pockets to hold ammo and other items. He goes back to his seat and sits down. He's ancy and ready to go.

"Who else we waiting for? I'm ready for the plan and ready to kick some more undead ass."

"Thanks for coming, everyone.

"Two of the hires haven't shown yet, but I'm sure they'll be along. There're sandwiches if anyone wants them, and I've put up all the data I have handy on the walls... plus I printed these off."

Claire has a stack of papers which she hands out, which concerns those of Umbrella's monsters she's personally encountered--zombies, Lickers, giant spiders, the giant crocodile, the Gulp Worm, mutant moths, Bandersnatches--and how she dealt with them. It's not terrifically pleasant reading.

"If anyone wants their money up front, I brought half of it with me for expenses.

"Leon's got all sorts of surveillance data, so he can help out with guard schedules, business hours, and all that good stuff. I may add a fourth target to the list, but we're waiting to see what Leon can dig up on that before I go ahead and do it.

"I guess we'd probably split up into teams."

[info]notarocksoldier

September 20 2005, 01:30:20 UTC 6 years ago

Noodle nods quietly, sipping at the tea she has made. She sits indian style on the floor beside RKY and leafs through the papers Claire's printed off, speed reading. Quietly she looks around at the other people Claire's managed to gather for the task. It looks like there's a fair mix.

She unconcerned with money. She's concerned with killing things and killing them well. It's like some sort of program clicking on in her head. Carefully she balances the tea on her head as she pulls her guitar case on front of her, removing her katana to make sure it is in proper condition for fighting, adjusting her protective gear as well before reaching for the tea again, katana balanced delicately on her knees.

"So it is saying these zombies," she points to a paper, one reffering to the people turned zombies, "Are not particularly fast, yes? While some of these others are, ne?" She frowns thoughtfully, trying to re read. "my english is not exactly wonderful though I am thinking I can manage." She looks at the papers thoughtfully, brain clacking away at what sort of tactics she should employ. It's fairly obvious she'll be with RKY. She glances at him sidelong, not terribly familiar with his fighting style...but she figures they can manage. They're...surprisingly intuitive when together. That thought brings a grin to her face which she hides behind her teacup.

Okay... so here's what's going on.

Umbrella's Chicago labs are also the corporate headquarters for their North American operation. Leon's got a lot of intel on it, none of which looks good, exactly; lots of guards, lots of electronic security, and if somebody gets to the bioweapon storage on the third subbasement, things could get bad fast.

Tom, Ash, Robo-Ky, and Noodle are on this one. Tom's had the idea to sneak in first and deal with the bioweapons before they become a threat, which is a really good plan. If nothing else, you could probably sabotage the cryotubes so they can't be shut off.

The Paris labs don't have any bioweapons that I know about, although Leon's intel says otherwise; there's at least one Tyrant in cold storage on the fifth floor, and they may have a G-Virus sample. If somebody uses that, it's going to be a pain in the ass to take the resulting G-Type out. Leon and I killed a G-Type about sixteen times between us and it kept coming.

Leon and Goldenwing are partnering up for Paris. Bring anti-aircraft weapons.

Singapore's the target with the highest chance of something going drastically wrong, since the city the lab's in has the highest population. We also know the least about what they're up to, but the picture being painted is that the lab has the most bioweapon research and the least actual viruses; they've got a few Hunters and a couple of Tyrants on the premises, but there's not as high a risk of an outbreak as there is in Chicago. Towards that end, I'm kinda thinking surgical strike.

Ether and Tex have agreed to go to Singapore. They've worked together before, and I know how Tex operates, so this one I'm not worried about.

Finally, given the turnout, I'm adding my fourth target to the list: a quiet little lab about five hundred miles west of Nairobi in Kenya. This lab's been quiet due to local guerillas, but the intel says it's where Umbrella conducts some of its most dangerous experiments.

Samus has agreed to go there with the Verdugos.

For those who don't know her-slash-them, this is Shifter. She's going to teleport people out if you get hurt or need evac, or provide backup if that's necessary too. We're also working with her to doublecheck the intel that's been provided.

Any other questions?

*The Hands both nodded solemnly at these instructions. Kenya. Hm, that wasn't originally mentioned. There was something suspicious about the two of them being sent to a facility that was not on the gameplan to begin with, but that was not a concern right now. If there was an Umbrella base there, they would gladly see to its desctruction.

It was a shame they were not being accompanied by ClaireRedfield, however. They knew that she annoyed Master and they thought that her...disposal would have made an lovely gift for him when they were reunited. There had been talk around the Nexus that, when he was last seen, he was remarkably sad. The removal of ClaireRedfield might have been something they could have used to cheer him up...

No matter. Mission first. They were going to Kenya with the armored woman. Shame on the partner overall, really. She exuded an aura of being a fighter and a hunter. She also was human at her core, but she had...other things in her that ultimately made her something more. Much like how the Los Illuminados were once human but made greater with Las Plagas. What a dissapointment; they very much would have liked to have gotten paired off with a human or someone they had a vendetta with. Would have made this job that much more...rewarding.

Perhaps they underestimated ClaireRedfield and her ability to plan, as well as her distrustful nature towards them and their ilk. Clever, clever human...

They both growled low and menacingly when their Speaking Stone darkly voiced their thoughts for them.*

The Vengeful Hands of Los Illuminados are bound for Kenya then. Umbrellacorporation will rue the day they Underestimated our Might.

And Now, OOC Notes on RPing

I kinda figured once the actual attacks started, threads could move to other LJs depending on which team somebody was on, and then we'd go from there.

For those of you who might not be familiar with the Resident Evil games, attacking one of their labs is a dicey proposition if you're a baseline human. They have really good mercenaries, decent alarm systems, and more artillery than anyone short of a standing government's army should have. At the same time, it's only 1999 on this worldline, so most of you will wipe the floor with the conventional troops.

Even if you don't run into any monsters during your particular excursion, you can expect to find at least the proof of dozens of human rights abuses and experiments conducted on unwilling human subjects. Tyrants, for example, must be made using a chemical that's secreted by a frightened teenager, so Umbrella will typically crack open their skulls without anesthetic and get it that way.
